Gold Coast Weather

The Gold Coast region has a fabulous truly comfortable sub-tropical climate ideal for outdoor enjoyment all-year round. The Coast averages 245 days of fine and sunny weather each year and has an average rainfall of about 1400mm annually, the majority of which falls in the summer period. Daytime temperatures on the coastal strip are generally in the twenties (Centigrade). However in the Hinterland average winter maxima are approximately 16°C (61°F). In winter clear skies and drier air are associated with cool nights and light frosts may occasionally occur, especially in the hinterland.

Summer which is between the months of December through to February sees average temperature of around 20-28°C which makes it the best time for the beautiful beaches and wonderful array of water activities. But during these warmers day you must always remember to Slip, Slop, Slap. January to March are usually the months of highest rainfall with usually fantastic hot days followed by occasional tropical storms. Humidity can sometimes be high but is often tempered by the cool sea breezes. The cool rainforests and mountain creeks are a wonderful retreat from the hot summer days.

March through to May, being the Autumn months can receive average temperature of around 15-25°C. Expect lovely sunny days followed by glorious nights making anything you are planning to do completely unforgettable. This time on the Gold Coast makes it ideal for both indoor and outdoor activities and very popular with the fishing and boating enthusiasts.

Winter which is between June and August can reach up to 21°C. Never really that hot but the days are still sunny with clear blue skies. During these months the Gold Coast can experience cooler days and even cooler night where you might want to think about packing some warmer clothes. These months a great for spending indoors in the fantastic accommodation, dining in great restaurants and enjoy some drinks with friends in one of the bars or pubs. If you are planning your trip the Gold Coast Hinterland and perhaps spending some time at a cosy B&B, why not stock up the fire and curl up with a glass of fine wine from one of the nearby wineries and spend some quality time with your family or loved one.

Spring which falls in the months of September through to November can have temperatures between 15-25°C. Similar to Autumn with glorious sunny days followed by balmy evenings, perfect for outdoor and indoor activities. Enjoy a day at the beach or pack a picnic and relax in one of the gardens of picnic grounds that line the foreshore.
