Although it is at the southern end of the Gold Coast, Coolangatta is one of the most sought after tourist centers in the region. Coolangatta and Tweed Heads are really the one city. The big difference is that Coolangatta is in Queensland and Tweed Heads is over the border in New South Wales. Coolangatta is one of the oldest holiday regions in Queensland. The Wintersun festival occurs in Coolangatta in June and July of each year. This is one of Australia’s most popular festivals and baby boomers from around the country come here to listen to rock and roll music from their era and tell lies to each other about the past.
